VENICE

Venezia, Italy, Veneto: area city guide

The list of our suggested attractions and locations

Venice is considered by many the most beautiful city in the world

An incredible city, consisting of a collection of 118 islands joined by more than 400 bridges and separated by canals that serve as streets, traversed by boats and gondolas.

Venice is a fascinating city because of the many art treasures it holds: churches, palaces, museums, bridges.

Indeed, one could say that the entire city is a work of art, a unique work of art that has gradually built up over centuries of history from domination, to decadence, to rebirth.

The monuments

Venice is a treasure chest that holds within it authentic treasures of world art. The Grand Canal, adorned with numerous bridges, the most spectacular of which is the Rialto Bridge, is an uninterrupted succession of aristocratic palaces and stupendous churches. And then the heart of Venice, St. Mark's Square, one of the most beautiful places in the world, with the stupendous Basilica, the Doge's Palace, home of the doges, the Campanile, from the top of which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city of water, the Clock Tower... And then all the works of art housed in the churches or in the many museums scattered throughout the sestieri of Venice, such as the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the largest collection of Venetian paintings from the 14th to the 18th century. Venice is also synonymous with Carnival, an evocative event that enlivens the city with masks that are the product of the imagination of those who wear them.

The charm of Venice, in addition to the quantity of artistic works enclosed in it, also lies in all the lesser-known, and yet incredibly evocative corners that are not presented by tourist guides, but that simply allow themselves to be discovered by strolling through the calli and campielli.

The Lagoon

The Venetian lagoon is a very special environment in which people and their activities are in direct contact with nature; a landscape that changes its appearance completely in a matter of hours following the course of the tides, an ecosystem in which different animal and plant species coexist.

And from the calm waters of the lagoon, emerge here and there the charming islands of Murano, Burano, Torcello, San Francesco del Deserto, San Lazzaro degli Armeni, Pellestrina, Chioggia.
