The Original at 21_21 Design Sight

This exhibition aims to present a unique perspective on "The Original" as a design concept that holds immense significance in shaping our world. It is important to note that in this context, "The Original" does not solely refer to the initial or earliest design in the history of manufacturing. Rather, it represents a design that possesses a profound appeal and exerts a lasting influence, serving as a wellspring of inspiration for countless designers. This essence of design excellence is intended to be passed down to future generations.

Curated by three prominent designers at the forefront of their field—Takahiro Tsuchida as the exhibition director, Naoto Fukasawa as the supervisor, and Kaoru Tashiro as the planning associate—the exhibition features a selection of over 100 exceptional products. These "Original" creations span various categories, including furniture, tableware, textiles, and toys. Visitors will have the opportunity to view and appreciate these remarkable designs firsthand.

Furthermore, the exhibition offers a deeper understanding of the selection process and the interrelationships between the showcased products through the use of photographs, descriptive texts, and other informative materials. By delving into the ideas behind "The Original," visitors will gain insights into the visionary concepts that underpin these designs and their impact on the world of design.

Through this exhibition, attendees will be immersed in the creative world of "The Original" and gain a renewed appreciation for the enduring influence of exceptional design.
